Here are a couple of excerpts from an interview I did with Dr. Cadogan: On why he blogs...Working in emergency medicine can be isolating. The shifts are long, the work is intense and the pressure is relentless. Having a local departmental community is essential to retain one's sanity. Being able to write about issues that concern us gives an individual as well as a collaborative debrief from the stress we encounter on a daily basis.
Community is essential to our ability to survive in the job and sharing our humour, educational resources and experiences is a very satisfying pastime. I feel we are making a valid contribution to the medical community by sharing our experiences after all a problem shared is a problem halved
On balancing work with his main passion...My biggest passion in my life is my family.
Through strict time-management and an innate aversion to sleep I manage to complete my work-related tasks when the kids are either at school or asleep.
Technological advancement has streamlined the efficiency with which I can disseminate my educational resources to a wider audience through HealthEngine.com.au and Life in the Fast Lane. I can now research, write, post, discuss and interact with the audience on the fly using mobile technology.
This leaves more time to do what I love most in the world
be a father.
