| Click here in case of problems reading this newsletter | Dear BeterZ member, | | Breathtaking title races! | | | | | | LeaderSome weeks ago, many European football championships seemed decided already, but competition did not give up and has made most of them gripping again! Here's an overview:
Across the channel Manchester have had one hand on the Premier League Trophy last week when holding a 0-1 lead at Stamford Bridge, but were eventually sent home empty-handed. Unfortunately, Arsenal could not take advantage of United's loss as they stumbled upon the Sunderland obstacle at home: 0-0. Despite their repeated and uninterrupted efforts, the Gunners did not only have to face the talented Simon Mignolet, but the arbitral trio and the crossbar as well. There are just days like that. However, Arsène Wenger's men have closed in up to being only 3 points behind Manchester, and having played one game less. United's rivals The Citizens are already 7 points behind, and seem to be out of the race.
In Italy, the champion trophy seems to be staying in Milan for the sixth time in a row. The only remaining question is which side of the city it will head to. Will AC Milan win their first scudetto since 2004 by resisting their rivals' pressure? With 5 points separating both teams, the Milanese derby at San Siro on April 3 will probably prove decisive!
When having a closer look at their Spanish cousins, nobody seems to be able to stop the extra-terrestrial catalans called FC Barcelona. Even worse, the more the only remaining competitor Real Madrid get stronger, the more the Catalans seem to gain power. José Mourinho tries not to lose faith, but he is at his wits' end.
And what to say about the French League 1 then ? Since the end of Olympique Lyon's reign, the battle for the French title rages until the end. This year it seems to be even tougher to point out a favourite though. Only 5 points separate the first from the 5th, and the two actual leaders, Lille and Rennes, are not giving in a bit. Will they battle for the title when facing each other on the last championship game day?
In the rest of Europe, there is not less suspense. In Holland, the top three teams are really close to each other, whereas in Belgium the two leaders, Anderlecht and Genk, count as many points with two games left before the play-offs. In Germany, Borussia Dortmund will very likely win its first title since 2002, and in Portugal it are Porto who seem to be heading for gold. | | | NewsHi there!
